THE HEART OF WBC: Our Four Core Values

Willow Bend Church has four core values that serve to clarify the mission and direction God has given to us as a local church. We believe when the Word of God (Foundational), the Spirit of God (Inspirational), and the People of God (Relational) work together that transformation happens within ourselves, our communities, and around the world (Missional).

FOUNDATIONAL: God’s Word is Our Foundation

God’s nature as revealed through the inspired Word of Scripture and the Living Word of Jesus are central to everything we do and all that we are; it is our guide and authority. We are passionate about learning and living out the story of God’s redemptive work in the world. Our heart’s desire is to be transformed by His Word as we learn more about who God is and the gift of salvation Jesus has won for us. Matthew 7:24-27; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; John 1:1-3; John 1:14

INSPIRATIONAL: The Holy Spirit is Our Inspiration

We are a church body that follows the guidance of Christ’s indwelling Spirit. The Holy Spirit is alive and active inside all those who trust in Jesus. The Spirit intercedes for us in prayer, moves our hearts closer to the heart of God, and draws us together in unity as one church body. As we grow in our faith in Christ, His Spirit is more and more at home in us, transforming us to look more and more like our Savior. Our warm and welcoming Sunday services create an opportunity for all of us to think deeply about our God, worship freely with our hearts connected to His, and greet one another with the peace and fellowship that comes from being united in the love of Christ. John14:16-17; Acts 1:8; Matthew 5:13-16; John 13:34-35

RELATIONAL: On Earth as it is in Heaven is Our Mission

Our deeply relational God has created us in His image to connect deeply with others. Our goal is to love like Jesus and live out Jesus’ calling to be disciples who make disciples. We are passionate about investing in other people. We believe in doing life together with our “forever family.” Our goal is to be real, authentic, approachable, non-judgmental, genuine, and trusting. As we live life together on purpose in community, we can experience radical transformation and experience a foretaste of our true home. Matthew 22:37-40; John 13:34-35; 1 John 1:5-7; Genesis 2:18

MISSIONAL: To Go into All the Earth and Make Disciples is Our Commission

We are passionate about selflessly loving others and serving in our church, our local community, and around the world. We desire to give of our time, talents, and treasures to God’s commission to serve His people and share with them the eternity-changing news of His gift of salvation through Jesus.
